About

Marita Brinkmann

Instructional Designer

A decade of classroom-tested engagement strategies, now applied to building digital learning experiences that drive real behavior change — not just completion rates.

Where I Started

I spent 10+ years teaching K–5 students across Atlanta — PreK through 5th grade, Special Education, Gifted and Talented programs, and Atlanta Virtual Academy's online classroom. Every day was a live design sprint: what captures attention, what loses it, and how do you make a child want to figure something out? That question never left me.

Where I'm Headed

Now I channel that classroom expertise into digital instructional design — gamified scenarios, branching narratives, Rise 360 and Storyline modules built around ADDIE principles. Action mapping drives how I think about objectives. Kirkpatrick shapes how I measure results. And measurable behavior change is always the real deliverable.

Outside the Authoring Tool

When I'm not in Storyline, I'm probably running, reading a novel, or trying out a new recipe in the kitchen. I grew up in the mountains of New York and have a deep affinity for the outdoors. Hiking, camping, or being out in nature feel like resets.
